3PLs aim to fill last-mile gap left by UPS, FedEx

Logistics providers are moving to fill a void for last-mile flexibility not currently being met by FedEx and UPS, with a pair of companies taking steps in that direction with new services unveiled last week.

3PLs view the last-mile as a natural extension of their services and are establishing technology and carrier partnerships to compete against traditional last-mile operators.
