Peli BioThermal provides the world’s widest range of temperature-controlled and thermally protected packaging solutions, to empower the life sciences industry to safely distribute pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, vaccines, diagnostics, tissue and blood supplies on a Global scale – in profiles ranging from -50°C to 25°C.
The Challenge
Despite an already successful partnership with SEKO, Peli BioThermal required a facility in Dublin to accommodate their growth plans over the next 3-5 years. In order to centralise their service requirements, the team at Peli BioThermal was also looking to access our international freight forwarding network and expert customs solutions, as a means of simplifying their pharmaceutical supply chain logistics and becoming more efficient.
The Solution
The opening of the new SEKO Dublin facility enabled our partnership with Peli BioThermal to evolve alongside their ambitious growth strategy – supporting their expansion, as well as showcasing to other Irish pharmaceutical companies, which contribute €39 billion in exports connected to pharma, bio and chemistry sectors annually, why they should delegate their Global freight forwarding and customs requirements to us.
Since signing the original Master Services Agreement, SEKO has also been responsible for servicing, refurbishing, repairing and conditioning shippers from Peli BioThermal’s Crēdo™ on demand rental program, to ensure delicate biological life science materials arrive intact, effective and protected from exterior environments.
Additionally, SEKO’s Good Distribution Practice (GDP) trained drivers distribute the temperature-controlled, pre-conditioned and validated containers to shippers across Ireland for loading.
Benefits of the SEKO Solution
- Time and cost effective set up of freight forwarding and customs clearance services
- Opening new facility for enhanced growth potential in Ireland
- Availability of additional services, to enable clients to broaden their scope
The Result
The success of the partnership, alongside SEKO’s investment into its new Dublin hub, has enabled Peli BioThermal to upgrade its service offering to pharma customers in Ireland, as well as leverage SEKO’s international freight forwarding network.
Under the newly extended partnership, SEKO now also provides international movements of Crēdo Cargo units by Air, Sea and Road transportation, to offer import, export and in-house Customs Brokerage services. SEKO has also opened a new Crēdo Cube refurbishment operation within the facility, with a GDP-certified team of staff.
Since managing Peli Bio Thermal’s latest Series 4 and 22 temperature range, SEKO is able to offer their customers in Ireland quick and easy access to their 2-8°C and 15-25°C packaging solutions. The increased capacity of the new Dublin warehouse means that since the start of the partnership, the number of Peli BioThermal conditioning units stationed in Ireland has increased by 150%.
