What is the Great Elephant Migration?

It is a coexistence story created to bring awareness, raise funds and spark change.

The story

The Nilgiri Hills of Gudalur (South India), has the highest density of human – elephant overlap on the planet. Over 150 elephants occupy the densely populated hills and, although the indigenous people share land, food and water with these land giants, they still find ways to live in peace.

What’s the problem?

The world’s top invasive weed, lantana camara, has now overrun 40% of the forests - pushing the animal population further and further into cities making coexistence difficult.

Artisans cut down the densely populated weed and sculpt them into their giant friends. Made from lantana camara, these life-size sculptures help the environment, raise awareness and are created to reflect the likeness and personality of each elephant in the herd.

SEKO is leading the herd throughout the US...

In this 3500 mile journey from East to West, all funds raised will support human-wildlife coexistence in the US and around the world. Follow the herd on their journey, purchase an elephant or simply come to see the marvel that is the Great Elephant Migration.
