An update

Following negotiations that lasted late into the night on Thursday, the White House announced a deal was reached between rail operators and all twelve unions. This tentative agreement removes the immediate threat of a strike and the potential impacts on the U.S. supply chain and economy.

The agreement that was reached must still be ratified by the union membership. Details of the ratification vote by each union’s members are still unknown, but it’s likely to occur in the coming weeks.

What’s next

SEKO will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates accordingly. While the imminent concerns about a strike have disappeared, there still remains some uncertainty and the situation could escalate again. Companies should maintain a state of readiness and ability to pivot quickly again should conditions deteriorate again.
