SEKO Logistics was the proud sponsor of Bath University’s Rocket Team in their inaugural entrance into the world’s largest intercollegiate rocket engineering competition. Held at Southern New Mexico’s world-class spaceport facility, the 2019 Spaceport America Cup hosted 122 teams, comprised of over 1,500 students from more than 70 American and international colleges and universities.

Launching solid, liquid, and hybrid rockets to target altitudes of 10,000 and 30,000 feet, Bath University turned to the ultimate care logistics experts of SEKO Smart Hub to provide guidance on a safe and effective logistics solution for the transportation of their hazardous materials.

“The door-to-door delivery, organizing of all the import and export forms, and advice on how best to package the rocket, meant that we didn't have to worry about ensuring the rocket's delivery on time, and we could focus on the parts of the project we enjoyed most,“ stated Rupert Glover, Bath University student and member of the 2019 Bath Rocket Team.

Based out of SEKO Logistics’ UK Aerospace and Aviation ‘Centre of Excellence’ at Farnborough Airport, SEKO’s highly-trained and experienced Smart Hub team provided Bath University with full visibility at every stage of the shipment process via MySEKO – SEKO Logistics’ in-house developed, web-based supply chain software.

As a small team in their first year of competition, the Bath University faced strict limits on resources, which added strain to the project. SEKO’s financial support, packaging, customs, dangerous goods and transportation advice for the rocket’s 5,000 mile journey is an experience the students will never forget.
