SEKO MedTec Solutions, which delivers SEKO Logistics’ specialist offering to the medical and technology sectors, has opened a new European Control Center in Galway, Ireland, to spearhead its expansion in the $500 billion medical device market.
The new centre, located in the IDA Business & Technology Park, will create 30 new jobs in sales, information technology, finance and supply chain management. To support products flowing through Europe’s main logistics hubs, the centre will house MedTec Network management, inventory control, quality and process engineering, IT support and development, program management, packaging design and engineering, sales and market development, logistics co-ordination and the company’s EU Call Center.
SEKO MedTec Solutions, headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA, controls and optimizes movement and distribution of finished goods, demonstration goods and returns/repairs for many of the top Global Medical Device Manufacturers through five dedicated distribution centres located across the United States. This includes ultrasound, surgery equipment, anesthesia, incubators, ventilators, x-ray, monitoring, laboratory analyzers, and dialysis machines as well as servers, telecommunications and satellite equipment. The new European Control Center will mirror these services and also incorporate clean room manufacturing and kitting.
Joe Bento, Chief Sales Officer of SEKO Logistics, said: “SEKO is growing rapidly in Europe and Ireland is a key part of that expansion, particularly given its strong and thriving Med Tech industry, which is the second fastest growing sector of our $600 million business. The new Control Centre in Galway will enable us to extend our specialist suite of supply chain services to the Med Tech industry in Ireland and across Europe.”
Ireland is home to 15 of the world’s top 20 medical technology companies. SEKO MedTec Solutions’ Managing Director, Rob Shearer, added: “We employ best practices for our customers through a dedicated, specialized distribution network. Our new European Control Centre in Galway will replicate and expand this process and will be central to ensuring we offer our clients a seamless, controlled and cost effective service across both the U.S. and European continents. Galway is our preferred location because of the talent pool of well-educated people with a deep knowledge of the Medical Technology industry sector. We sincerely appreciate the assistance of IDA Ireland as we grow our Irish operation.”
