This June, SEKO Logistics is proud to be sponsoring and participating in the fantastic Ride25 global bike tour to raise money for 1moreChild.
The cycling fundraiser aims to raise over £100,000 this year to support the 1moreChild initiative in Uganda, working to take children off of the streets and provide everything they need to go to school. The charity, set up in 2008, provides everything from school fees to uniforms to help street children in Jinja, Uganda, get the education they need to prosper.
Now in its third year, the event will see 160 riders embark on a mountainous 3 day ride from Geneva, Switzerland to Milan, Italy starting on Thursday the 12th of June. SEKO’s very own Mark White (Chief Commercial Officer) will be joining the riders on their weekend-long trek, and helped SEKO to become a founding sponsor of the event. Completing the SEKO team and accompanying Mark for the first time at Ride25 will be Brian Bourke (VP Marketing) as well as Bob van der Putten (VP Business Development EMEA) and Keith O’Brien (COO – EMEA) who have taken part each year.
This year marks the third leg of the adventure, which began in 2012 on a bike ride from London to Paris. The founding riders loved the idea of seeing the world by bike so much that they decided to continue the journey all the way to Australia over the next 25 years – and so Ride25 was born. Last year the group doubled in size for their ride from Paris to Geneva, and raised a total of over £125,000 for 1moreChild. The ultimate goal is to raise over £1 million by the time Ride25 reaches Sydney in 2037.
