November 15, 2023 – SEKO Logistics (SEKO), the global leader in end-to-end logistics, is excited to announce the opening of two new operations in Asia – Malaysia and India.
To begin, SEKO’s operations in Malaysia, which are located in the Kuala Lumpur area, including an office at the Cargo Complex in Sepang, will focus on the high-tech, ecommerce, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and automotive industries. Mumbai will serve as headquarters for SEKO’s operations in India, with two satellite offices in Delhi and Chennai. The company’s primary focus will be on freight forwarding and out of gauge (OOG) cargo handling.
SEKO Malaysia
Malaysia is one of Asia’s most competitive markets and represents the center of southeast Asia with a market access of over 660 million people and a combined gross domestic of $3.3 billion. One of the continent’s most competitive emerging markets, the country is a strategic location for Asian operations, can be expertly leveraged for cross border business with Thailand and Singapore, and is a regional hub for halal products.
“Opening our operations in Malaysia is indicative of our commitment to supporting our customers and their logistics needs throughout the Asia-Pacific region. With its location next to one of the world’s busiest shipping routes, the Straits of Malacca, and its connection to all the major ports in Asia, Malaysia will serve as a key competitive market to introduce SEKO’s capabilities to and support new clients, as well as provide opportunities to expand benefits to our existing clients,” said Paul Good, COO Asia Pacific Region.
For air freight, Malaysia’s largest airport, KLIA, is well connected to other major airports in Asia, reaching Mumbai, India within six hours and Beijing, China within nine hours. Plus, the Straits of Malacca, which run between Malaysia and Singapore, provide access to one of the world’s largest shipping routes and key regional ports.
Lai Ying Lum will oversee SEKO Malaysia operations as Country Manager and manage a team of eight full-time staff, who bring a diversity of backgrounds with vast experience in the Malaysian logistics industry. Looking ahead to 2024, 2025 and beyond, the team will be looking to expand services, open new offices (aiming for a total of four local SEKO offices in strategic locations around Malaysia) and hire 100+ employees.

SEKO India
India is one of the world's fastest-growing major economies, and this growth is leading to increased trade and commerce, further boosting the demand for logistics solutions. India's large population provides a vast consumer base for various goods and services, making it an appealing market for foreign companies looking to expand their operations. The rapid expansion of the e-commerce industry in India has also created a substantial need for efficient logistics and last-mile delivery services. After the pandemic, a significant number of suppliers moved their operations to India.
"SEKO is thrilled also to begin operations in India this year, further expanding our reach within the Asia-Pacific Region,” added Good. “The rapid expansion of the ecommerce industry in India, in particular, has created a substantial need for efficient logistics and last-mile delivery services, both at which SEKO excels.”
The new SEKO India office will employ 15 FTEs located in our three most major locations: Mumbai (HQ), Delhi, and Chennai. The initial focus of operations will be on freight forwarding and OOG cargo handling.
Looking ahead, the team is also looking to expand services to include warehousing (3PL) and ecommerce solutions, as well as open satellite offices in additional significant markets over the coming year to better meet the needs of our clients while maintaining a local, close-knit relationship with them.
