WHAT’S THE LATEST
This morning, all vessel traffic has been suspended in and out of the Port of Baltimore after container ship, Vessel Dali, lost power and drifted into the Francis Scott Key Bridge. This collision caused the bridge to tragically collapse.
Our hearts go out to those that have been affected by this horrible incident. We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide timely updates to those directly impacted.
WHAT WE KNOW
- While vessel traffic is suspended, truck traffic in and out of the port is still operating.
- We can confirm that SEKO freight on Vessel Dali was discharged to ORF and NYC.
- SEKO’s Baltimore office opened a new facility close to the port yesterday. Our team has approximately 60,000 square feet of space available for cross dock and/or storage to avoid demurrage on any containers already at the port that need diverting to another port.
WHAT’S NEXT?
As your logistics partner, we are ready and able to pivot quickly. At this time, all SEKO stations are checking their inbound vessels into Baltimore. Carriers will most likely divert this cargo to ORF or NYC. While we may be given an option, container load position on vessel will dictate new discharge port.
We will frequently communicate and advise on the situation as more details regarding the opening of vessel traffic become available.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your SEKO representative, or email us at hello@sekologistics.com.
